The owner who lived in Japan opens specialty coffee shop in lake area, Hanoi

Ikigai Coffee (So 43, Ngo 38, Phuong Mai, Dong Da, Ha Noi, TEL 0914955808) has opened in Dong Da district, Hanoi on January 1.

The owner, Thu Hang decided to open this store and says “Specialty coffee is still on the way to be developed in Vietnam but it is already popular among young people.” The name of the shop is derived from Ikigai (It means the purpose of life in Japanese). Hang learned this word when she was in Japan and was impressed.

The size of the shop is 140 square meters on the first floor and 70 square meters on the second floor. There are 5 seats at the counter and 20 tables. They can accommodate 40 customers in total. The exterior is based on a light brown color and Hang says “ Inside is Japanese, modern and minimalist style.” In addition, there is a terrace area and customers can see Kim Lien lake from the balcony on the second floor.

The café uses coffee beans from coffee farms and roasters in Vietnam and foreign countries. Customers who order hand drip coffee (60,000 VND to 70,000 VND) can choose either V60, Chemex, Wave dripper from Kalita, or Aeropress. Also, customers can add soymilk, oat milk, organic coconut milk to Iki Almond (55,000 VND) which is a mixed drink of espresso-based blend with almond milk. Besides, they offer kombucha and fruit juice.

Hang comments “We wish our customers can enjoy coffee that is served by barista and spend meaningful time here.”

Opening hour is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The parking lot is for 2 cars and 20 motorbikes. The café offers delivery and takeaway option as well. Customers can order by phone call and Facebook.
