Venue of The Memory of To Lich River

The exhibition, The Memory of To Lich River hosted by Vu Xuan Dong is currently held at the art culture center (22 Hang Buom, Hoan Kiem, Ha Noi) in Hoan Kiem district.

The exhibition started on April 30. There are 22 art pieces that Vu created from the past to the present. Displayed art includes oil paintings, acrylic paintings, and copper reliefs under the theme of To Lich River. Besides, Vu also exhibits lacquer works that he created as a graduation project from art school 20 years ago. The art culture center is located near the old estuary of the river that flows from the To Lich River into the Hong River.

Vu has grown up near Lich River and says “I clearly remember the river that supports people’s life in Hanoi as beautiful and lyrical scenery. However, contamination gradually progressed as the land readjustment was carried out as a modern city.” Vu also says “The dark-colored work shows the serious pollution of the Toric River.”

Vu stored cardboard that was used to deliver food and daily necessities, and reused it for art pieces. He explains “The countless old regrets such as throwing trash in the river have been revived” in Corona times. The story and history of the river are drawn on the copper relief work, which looks like winds like a stream of the time depicted. Regarding these art pieces, Vu desires to reproduce the clear stream.

Opening hour is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (by 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday). Free admission. Opening days are until May 30.
