Pottery museum (So 28, Thon 5, Bat Trang, Gia Lam, Ha Noi) where visitors can try to create a traditional craft called Bat Trang pottery has opened in Gia Lam prefecture, Hanoi on April 30.

The museum is located in Bat Trang which is well-known as a pottery village. For tourists, they also offer a wide variety of content such as workshops, events, and pottery for display and sales. This museum is run by Quang Vinh Ceramic and the Vietnam craft village center. Quang Vinh Ceramic develops a craft village and maintains the tradition of pottery. On the other hand, the Vietnam craft village center is sponsored by the Hanoi craft village art association. A manager, Vu Van K says “Our role is not only connecting potters who learn traditional craft method but also providing opportunities that people can see pottery spirit left by legend artists. Therefore, what we would like to offer is communicative space.”

The museum is consisted of seven buildings using Bat Trang bricks and has a basement and five floors. The size is 3,700 square meters and the total investment is 150 billion VND. There are unique objects using traditional ceramic, mosaic, and baked tiles everywhere inside the museum. Visitors will feel as if they are in the pottery factory.

On the first floor, visitors can purchase various types of pottery. The second floor is a display space where people can learn the history of Bat Trang village and the tools used to create pottery. Vu says “People who come here can see all series of enamel such as ivory, blue and celadon green, which was used from past to present. In addition, they will learn how the color and shape of pottery have been changed in Bat Trang. ”

The third floor is accommodation space. Two rooms have bedrooms and living space. The other seven rooms are only for sleep. On the top floor, there are a restaurant, a café, and an outdoor theater with a stage that is suitable for events. Besides, workshop programs where visitors try to create pottery and draw a picture on it with professionals are available on the basement floor. (Trial fee = 50,000 VND, visitors can bring them home.)

Opening hour is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Entrance fee is 30,000 VND (40,000 VND includes café use)
